Thanks for your comment Rob. I never called Lindy effect a science. I used the word ‘heuristic’ . The definition is given in this link. Moreover Lindy effect as described below is applicable to non perishable things.

The Lindy effect is a concept that the future life expectancy of some non-perishable things like a technology or an idea is proportional to their current age, so that every additional period of survival implies a longer remaining life expectancy.

I also did not imply regression and least squares are not equivalent terms. I merely put the words in brackets to be precise in quoting from wikipedia.
